If you just have half life, I think you need the standalone deathmatch game. I'm pretty sure trying to play multiplayer from the original half life tries to connect to the old servers that don't exist anymore.
A few of my friends all bought the HL 2 deathmatch to play at work. Well i cant join them. i'm running my windows 8 laptop and it won't find them when i try to hoast they say the server doesn't respond. I'm wondering what my options are to play. i have turned off all the firewalls and everything. any ideas?
